Re Broadband Radar Response?
The Active-X will respond to broadband radar if the polarity wires are
reversed on the antenna unit. However the standby current will increase
from 15mA to 200mA and the control box will cease to provide any information
as the green light will be actuated continuously. The control box can
then only be used to turn the unit on and off. The control box will not
function with reversed power supplies
The Navico Broadband radar is also
a small vessel radar and does not meet the IMO standard for larger vessels
which are the ones that cannot manoeuvre quickly and need to detect targets
at greater range in order to make course adjustments to avoid small vessels.
There
are so few of these units in service we do not think that they should
cause any concern.
